4 Kitchen Helpers Needed for Tuesday Dinners
Our first Alpha dinner was a huge success, and over 50 people are interested in coming back each week to share a meal and ask questions about Jesus. It is a tremendous feeling, sharing the gospel with people who are seeking the Lord!
BUT we have a problem.
We need about 4 volunteers each Tuesday, now through March, to help prepare the meal. The menu is already set, and it’s an easy buffet style. We just need hands to make it happen.
The shift is from 4:30-8:30 pm in the Hall kitchen on Tuesdays through March.
Job duties are not complicated: basic food prep and clean up.
You can sign up for just one Tuesday or several.
Please email Alpha@StMichaelLivermore.com
If you can’t make it on Tuesdays
1. Can you please spread the word to your friends today?
2. Will you please keep St Michael’s Alpha in your prayers, especially that the Holy Spirit my stir the right people to help in the kitchen?
Frequently Asked Questions
We can always learn more about our faith and grow in our relationship with Christ, and Alpha is no exception.
Don’t worry, there will be points brought out in the teaching and in the sharing, that will definitely challenge your faith and help you to know Jesus better. However, another reason is so that you’ll know what Alpha is all about! Then think of that neighbor, colleague, friend who is searching for the meaning to life and you can easily invite them to come, knowing exactly what they will experience. Many times folks are a lot more inclined to come to Alpha (free food!) than to a church event or mass.
Most people come nervous!
So no worries. You’ll make new friends.
An Alpha session lasts a bit over 2 hours.
You come for a meal, watch a short video, and share your thoughts on the video with your table mates (who you will meet at the first session).
During the discussion portion of the session, you can ask your table mates any questions you want. Your session host will ensure the discussion ends on time
Alpha will last 11 weeks, on Tuesday evenings 6:30-8:45 beginning January 9, with dinner always included.
There is also an off-site (local) ‘retreat experience’, the Weekend Away, offered after week 7 (Friday evening 7-9; Saturday 9-5) It's optional, but highly recommended, and lots of fun!
Just be sure to register with us (so we have a spot for you and enough food too).
At any point, if you think Alpha isn't for you, that's not a problem.
Your faith journey is your own...we promise not to bug you. There's no pressure, no follow up and no charge, we promise!
Lots of people come to Alpha without knowing anybody else on the course.
By the end of the course, most people become good friends. Alpha is a great way to meet new people, both from the parish and outside the parish!
Great news! There's no charge for Alpha.
However, we do share a full meal each week so we will ask for voluntary donations to help offset part of the cost of food. But there is no pressure to pay anything. The Weekend Day Away may have a separate cost. However, we never want money to prevent anyone from attending Alpha so we've got you covered if you need.
You may remain silent if you wish.
It doesn't matter if you missed the first week of Alpha - you can at least watch the video online.
Anyone is able to register up until session 3 (week 3); after that we would encourage you to check back on this website and sign up for our next Alpha course, and start from session 1 (week 1).
Lots of people face this reality.
We can accommodate you if you notify us when this happens. Just send us an email or let your small group leader know in advance.
