The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is the program for adults (18+) who would like to deepen their relationship with the Catholic Church by preparing to receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and First Communion.

Program Goal
OCIA focuses on prayer, study, dialogue, instruction, and fellowship to guide participants in their spiritual journey.
The goal is not only to learn more about the Catholic faith but also to grow in love for God and walk more closely as disciples of Jesus Christ.
Eligibility
18 years of age or older
Resident of Livermore or neighboring cities
Register as a parishioner at St Michael Catholic Church

Must know the Sign of the Cross, Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, Nicene Creed

Program Expectations
Attend Mass every Sunday and Holy Days of Obligation
Participate in Tuesday evening and Sunday afternoon online classes
Join periodic in-person gatherings
Length of Program
There is not a set program length, as conversion is a highly individual experience
Minimum of 12 months, but some cases require a longer preparation
