Business Manager

Job Title: Business Manager III

Reports to: Pastor

Position Overview:

St. Michael is seeking a full time Business Manager. Assists the Pastor in the leadership, personnel, facility and financial management of the Parish and School by managing the implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures required by the Diocese and by civil law. As needed, he/she will act as the parish liaison at various meetings on behalf of the Pastor and be responsible for implementing organizational strategies, short-&long-range plans while developing innovative solutions to maximize productivity and success at the Parish and School.

Administrative Responsibilities


  • Consults with and advises the Pastor on business, administrative, personnel, and operational matters
  • Directs the management of the parish staff & school operations staff
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining the parish strategic plan
  • Responsible for developing short- and long-term operational strategies to ensure consistent and efficient workflows are in place
  • Lead and service all ministry groups and leaders ensuring alignment to the Parish mission
  • Assist the Pastor in his calendar management and scheduling of Pastoral visits, meetings and speaking engagements
  • Attends Pastoral Staff, Parish Council, Finance Council, Facilities, School Board, School Finance, and any other
  • meetings as deemed necessary by the Pastor along with all Diocesan meetings

Financial Management


  • Directs the development and implementation of the parish budgets
  • Supervises the counting and deposits of all Church donations and receipts
  • Reviews the monthly bank reconciliations for all parish & school accounts
  • Reviews all monthly and yearly financial statements for Parish and School
  • Attends Finance Council meetings for both Parish & School
  • Human Resources/Personnel Administration
  • Reviews all payroll functions while administering salary & benefits program
  • Establishes and maintains employee job descriptions for all Parish & School staff
  • Build & maintain relationships with all department leaders, external partners, ministry leaders and vendors
  • Administers Yearly Performance Review Process and Program with the Pastor & Principal

Facilities Management


  • Supervises facility maintenance, any major repair and renovation for Parish & School
  • Negotiates and reviews all proposed maintenance, repair, and construction contracts for all site facilities
  • Assures the condition and cleanliness of all facility structures (Church, Convent, Rectory, School) meet expected conditions
  • Maintains security and safety of church and school properties
  • Collaborate with Pastor and Finance Council(s) on all large facility expenditures for approval Communications
  • Keep All Parish & School Communication Platforms current with 21st Century Technology
  • Work with Communications Department to develop and produce printed materials for parish and school
  • Grow Community involvement and engagement with both Parish & School Parish & School Leadership
  • Ensures that all parish & school decisions and strategies are aligned with the parish & school mission
  • Serves as a school liaison for the Pastor at all School Board, Parent Teacher Group (PTG), Finance and any other leadership committee/council meetings for the school.
  • Will participate and when needed be the liaison for the Pastor for all school staffing initiatives including the screening, hiring and the implementation of performance evaluations for school employees
  • Be a positive spokesperson for support of parish & school decisions, including expansion projects, new ministries, parish functions, school functions, and facility updates, etc.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Accounting and previous experience (3-5 Year+) as a Business Manager
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; Efficient with computer and programs such as Microsoft
  • Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, Parish Data Systems, and Flocknote
  • Detail-oriented, deadline-aware, persistent, helpful, team-minded and personable
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends
  • Active in a parish and participates in a ministry
  • This is a full time, exempt position which includes full health benefits. Salary is based upon the Diocesan Scale and depends on qualifications and experience.
